LC recently partnered with an event management company to administer French simultaneous interpreting services. The meeting took place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston and in attendance was the Minister of the Ivory Coast, or the Côte d’Ivoire.
Located on the south coast of West Africa, the Ivory Coast is a country with a progressively more stable economy after years of political instability. The development of cocoa production for export has made the Ivory Coast one of the most prosperous of the West African states. LC interpreted for the financial meeting between the Minister of Finance of the Ivory Coast and multiple potential Boston investors, including Deutsche Bank, Citibank and BNP Paribas.
Simultaneous interpretation was ideal as the delegates of their respective countries were able to follow along and participate in real time. BNP Paribas, a French bank and financial services company and one of the largest banks in the world, was responsible for hosting the meeting, in collaboration with the Boston-based event management company. The Ivory Coast maintains close ties to France since independence in 1960, and this event was a testament to international cooperation. As such, LC was honored to take part in this historic gathering.

Chinese Delegation Visits Dana Farber
LC Interprets at Dana Farber Cancer Institute
On January 29, 2015, Dana Farber, the Boston-based cancer treatment and research institute, held a conference hosting a group of Chinese delegates. The group was given a tour of the facilities, both at Harvard Medical School as well as the Dana Farber Institute, and attended various lectures given by the presidents of these institutions, as well as the President of the University of Chinese Medicine in Beijing. Among the topics featured during the conference the application of Traditional Chinese Medicine in western cultures was the primary one.
Language Connections provided their Chinese interpreting services throughout the course of the delegation’s visit to Boston. Our highly-skilled Chinese linguists simultaneously interpreted lectures and presentations, as well as facilitated conversations between Chinese and English speakers. Our conference interpreters not only eliminate language barriers, but they also act as cultural ambassadors to ensure that communication is seamless and that there are no misunderstandings.

Russia in the XXI Century
LC to attend Tufts 2015 Symposium | Russia in the XXI Century
The Tufts Institute for Global Leadership (IGL) Symposium is an annual public forum. It features many international speakers ranging from academics and intellectuals to activists and journalists who participate in panel discussions and workshops. This year Tufts IGL will be hosting a four-day symposium focused on Russia and international order.
Russia in the XXI Century

Tufts Global Leadership has assembled a distinguished panel to address these critical questions.
Leo Galperin, President of the Language Connections and board member of the US-Russia Chamber of Commerce of New England, will be participating in the events. Come join in the discussion.

Russian Business Relations Event
THE U.S.- RUSSIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF NEW ENGLAND PRESENTS
U.S. – Russia Business Today
Considering recent events affecting the Russian economy, business relations between the U.S. and Russia has undergone some critical changes. There are uniquely antagonistic forces that create conflicts between the U.S. and Russia. Historically, the two countries are known as geopolitical foes as well as world superpowers. What does the future hold both for political as well as economic ties between the two nations?
An upcoming event will discuss this nuanced question. Events such as these, that draw upon history and look to the future, utilize democracy to its fullest potential. All members of the U.S. regardless of backgrounds can educate themselves on the nature of foreign relations. In the process, this expands the number of people who have access to the same valuable information.
Please join the U.S. Russia Chamber of Commerce of New England (USRCCNE) for a panel discussion of these issues led by Bruce I. Turner, former U.S. Consul General in St. Petersburg; Adrian Erlinger, Program Manager, Innovation and Capacity Building; and Richard Golob, Head, Life Sciences Business Unit, EPAM Systems. These highly qualified individuals will have much to add to the discussion gripping the nationRAN.
USRCCNE board member and President of Language Connections, Leo Galperin, will be attending the event. Come and join in the discussion! We look forward to seeing you there!
Event: USRCCNE Panel Discussion

Language Connections Localizes Videos for Fisher-Price on New Year’s Eve!
Language Connections Delivers Mothers’ Wishes for Babies
This past December, children’s toy company, Fisher-Price, decided to create an online ad campaign as part of its “Best Possible Start” effort. Delivered within 24 hours, this brief film captures the hopes of mothers from all over the world for their children born around this past New Year’s.
The film was made by interviewing new mothers from Boston, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Bangladesh, Nairobi and Warsaw that were due near or on New Year’s who were asked to express their wishes for their newborn babies.
Language Connections (LC) was asked by the company which produced the video, Editbar, to help with translating the footage, providing subtitles and making international versions in several different languages: French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese, Russian, and Bengali. Our linguists worked onsite all throughout New Year’s Eve (up until 3 AM) and on New Year’s Day!
The English version of this video can be viewed on YouTube. You can learn more about this video here.

LC Provides Consecutive Interpreting for German Delegates
German Delegates Visit Boston’s Academic Institutions
Language Connections provided consecutive interpreting services for a group of German delegates visiting academic institutions in Boston in mid-November. The delegates were representatives from the Bavarian Parliament (Landtag of Bavaria) appointed to the State’s Committee for Science and Art, as well as members of the State Ministry of Education, Culture, Economics, and Art. Our role was to interpret a speech from German to English by Joel Bressler, the Director of Tech Transfer, at Northeastern University. Our expertise in interpreting at academic conferences and events over the years has positioned us as a primary provider of linguistic services in the Boston area.
