Russian as a Language
Russian is a Slavic language closely related to Ukrainian and Belarusian, with which it forms the Eastern Slavic family. It is the official language of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as some unrecognized Eastern European countries, and a second language for most of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. There are nearly 250 million Russian speakers in the world, making it the fifth most common language. Russian is one of the six official languages of the United Nations and the second most frequently used language on the Internet.
Many immigrants have brought Russian abroad. The United States is populated with Russian colonies through most of its major cities, including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Miami and Nashville. In Western Europe, the immigrants have created communities where Russian is almost exclusively spoken among the residents.
The Russian language utilizes the Cyrillic alphabet, which is based on the Greek alphabet and consists of 33 letters. This alphabet is also used by most Slavic and some Mongolian and Central Asian languages, among others. However, different countries and dialects use variations distinguished from each other by several letters.

These translations look great. You have done a great job making the Russian science jargon into understandable English sentences. It is also impressive that you managed to translate the last application with only a few days’ notice. Thank you for the high quality work!
