Founder and President
A veteran translator and U.S. State Department interpreter with years of experience in international business, Leo founded Language Connections in 1993. Over the years the company grew into a multi-service translation and interpreting agency with a capacity for handling large contracts.
Currently, Language Connections serves clients and their target audiences in over 200 languages: it translates and localizes marketing, technical, medical and legal materials to help companies enter international markets, provides interpreters for conferences and high-level meetings in all parts of the globe, and collaborates with medical and charitable organizations both nationally and worldwide.
Leo’s multifaceted educational background in engineering, business administration and linguistics equips him with a unique understanding of his clients’ perspectives and requirements. Respected for his integrity, competence and forthright business practices, Leo demands exceptional attention to client needs from his linguists and staff.
Leo has been a member of the American Translators Association since 1996 and a Board Member of the US-Russia Chamber of Commerce of New England since 2005.
Senior Translation Project Manager and Quality Lead
Natalia joined the Language Connections team as a Marketing Manager in 2014 and subsequently transitioned to a Senior Translation Project Manager role. She has outstanding expertise in translation, localization, desktop publishing and interpreting.
Natalia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and a Master’s degree in Linguistics and Translation. She is a native Russian speaker, fluent in English, and has a basic knowledge of French and Latin. Her extensive experience in cross-cultural interaction, her intense work ethic and her thorough attention to detail has made her a valued member of the team at Language Connections. Over the years, Natalia has deftly provided translation solutions to a wide variety of clients and successfully managed a myriad of complex projects with Language Connections– often simultaneously.
Senior Account Manager
Kirill Grushko joined the Language Connections team in 2010. A graduate of the Moscow State University for the Humanities, Kirill holds a degree in World Literature and History. His main interest lies in the field of literary and scientific translation. Coming from a family of literary translators, Kirill excelled as a professional English-Russian-English translator, editor and interpreter for various educational institutions, publishers and businesses. His thorough knowledge of world history and cultures, along with superior communication skills, have enabled Kirill to build on his experience and successfully manage translation/interpreting projects worldwide.
Kirill believes that efficient and result-focused project management is key to building productive long-term relationships with clients. He brings a can-do attitude and customer focus to the Language Connections team. Kirill is a native Russian speaker, fluent in English, with basic Spanish skills and a working knowledge of Latin.
Senior Account Manager
Maria joined Language Connections as a Senior Interpreting Project Manager in 2013. A seasoned industry professional, she has outstanding expertise in both interpreting and translation.
Maria holds a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and a Master’s degree in Science of Translation and Interpretation. She is a native Russian speaker, fluent in English, and has a basic knowledge of German and Latin. She has excellent communication and management skills, vast experience in cross-cultural interaction, and a take-charge personality. Possessing these skills has allowed Maria to successfully manage a number of complex interpreting projects for the company’s strategic clients.
Director of Business Development
Simon joined Language Connections as a Translation Project Manager in 2018. He is experienced in managing complex translation and localization projects across various verticals, including: commercial, software/tech, blockchain, educational/academic, medical, legal, and official government materials. Simon now manages global business development efforts, focusing on new client acquisition, revenue growth, new service offerings, and client retention.
Originally from Great Britain, Simon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics & English Language from the University of Kent. He is a native English speaker carrying a basic knowledge of Italian, Spanish, French, and German. Employing a steadfast, hands-on work ethic, he is devoted to building strong, lasting relationships with clients. Simon’s ability to recognize growth in emerging markets has helped Language Connections expand their repertoire of services offered and industry experience.
Robert joined the Language Connections team in 2020. A graduate of Boston College, Robert holds a BA in International Studies. He served as a Marketing Intern for over a year before becoming Marketing Manager, allowing him to gain a unique look into the language services industry. He considers himself a proficient Spanish speaker, as he studied abroad in Granada, Spain.
Robert is constantly seeking innovative ways to market L.C.’s services to organizations from a variety of industries and cultures. He loves crafting engaging blog posts for the site, reaching out to potential clients through weekly email blasts, designing website pages, and creating effective marketing materials for L.C.
Language Training Manager
Abigail joined Language Connections as the Language Services Coordinator in 2019. She is uniquely qualified for this role, having a year of hands-on language training experience herself teaching English in Madrid. Originally from New Hampshire, Abbey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Entrepreneurship from Lynn University. She is a native English speaker with a basic knowledge of Spanish, acquired when she lived in Madrid for two years.
Abigail deftly builds and maintains client relationships with corporations and nonprofits alike. Through her diligence and organization, she excels at putting together and executing plans for language training that exceed our clients’ expectations.
Johanna started working as an intern at LC in 2019 and is now an integral part of our project management team. A native of Frankfurt, Germany, Johanna holds a degree in German literature and linguistics as well as several certificates in public relations and marketing. Having worked with clients ranging from government agencies to pharmaceutical companies, Johanna is uniquely qualified to carefully manage translation projects from a variety of different industries both efficiently and with great attention to detail.
