On-Site Spanish Interpreting at Youth Villages
Boston, MA September 2016 – Language Connections, an interpretation and translation services company, regularly provides professional language services for a private, non-profit organization called Youth Villages, a company that helps emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families by providing residential treatment and intensive home services.
Our client, Youth Villages division in the state of Tennessee, works with troubled youths that need intensive help coping. Their specialized programs include teenagers and young adults and their families. Frequently, the programs are attended by non-native English speakers. In these cases, we interpret for the youths and/or their families, either through on-site interpreting or via telephonic interpreting.
In a currently ongoing project, we are providing On-Site Spanish interpreting services for a Spanish-speaking youth that has been admitted to one of the residential programs. This project requires our team of Spanish consecutive interpreters to work in shifts since they need to be available 7 days a week from 6:00am to 9:00pm for the entire time that the youth is participating in the program (nine months total). The interpreters must also have the utmost sensitivity for the situation in order to effectively facilitate throughout the course of the treatment for youths enrolled in such programs.
