Language Training Services for a National Manufacturing Company

Why Language Training?

Our business relationship with the client began about 2 years ago. Because many of our client’s employees spoke Spanish, many of them could not read the company safety manuals. As a result, there were some fatal and non-fatal employee accidents on-site at the company’s factory. In order to ensure that these events would never be repeated, the client requested language training services from us.  This would allow them to ensure employees could better understand safety training and just generally ensure better communication between factory managers and employees on the floor.

Thus far, Language Connections has organized 4 separate classes for each of the client’s factories. To ensure employee success in our language classes, teachers must submit weekly progress and attendance reports and conduct exams for every 60 hours of classroom instruction. Our classes are also tailored to the language needs of the employee’s jobs.  For instance, if an employee’s role within the company required advanced or proficient knowledge of English, we would place those employees in the more rigorous class section.

Results

Our language training services have greatly benefited our client. As a direct result of the classes, there have been no more no more accidents at the client’s facilities.  Employees have passed all of their scheduled safety checks thanks to their newfound ability to translate employee handbook instructions written in English; a major improvement. Additionally, many students who began at the beginner level achieved advanced or proficient knowledge of English by the end of their time in class. In fact, many students loved the class so much that the client was willing to give them a scholarship each year to continue their English education.  This will greatly accelerate their career advancement. Perhaps more importantly, our classes have created a better company culture for our client. Now that many employees possess a basic understanding of the English language, they are able to better communicate with their managers and with HR professionals.  This naturally improves collaboration between different sections of the company. Clearly, our language training services were able to create a safer and better-connected workplace for our client.
