Latin American Spanish Translation for Boston Basics Campaign
Boston, MA Sept 2016 – Language Connections a translation and interpreting services agency is proud to work with several local non-profit organizations in the Boston area. One of our regular clients, Boston Basics, is a non-profit organization that campaigns and collaborates with local institutions to provide access to proper healthcare and education during early childhood.
The Boston Basics Campaign was launched by the Black Philanthropy Fund, the AGI, the Boston Mayor’s Education Cabinet, the Department of Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center, and WGBH Public Broadcasting. The initiative has a growing coalition of partners including major hospitals, health centers, early childhood providers, community centers, and churches. The Boston Basics Campaign is inspired by the fact that 80% of brain development occurs during a child’s first 3 years. Therefore, effective early caregiving makes a critical difference in school readiness, emotional wellbeing, and life opportunities for children. The Boston Basics are five simple yet powerful principles accessible to all parents and caregivers based on a review of research conducted by the Achievement Gap Initiative (AGI) at Harvard University.
Latin American Spanish Translation Services
Language Connections provides ongoing professional translation services for the Boston Basics Campaign’s open-source toolkit created for partners, including videos, workshops, posters, and print collateral. Our role, since 2015, has been to provide Spanish translation of the organization’s resources, including educational booklets and leaflets, press releases and bulletin newsletters, PowerPoint presentations and manuals for workshop facilitators, as well as other types of multimedia materials. A great number of parents and caregivers who use these resources have emigrated from Latin America and are not proficient in English.
