Multilingual Video Translator Services for Product Marketing

In addition to providing them with high-quality document translation and interpreting services, we also offer multimedia translation services such as video translation. This includes both video script translation, subtitling, and multilingual voice over services.
One of our clients, a Boston area video production company, helps various business and institutions promote to and educate consumers about their products or services through video. One of their recent videos was done for a software company making a digital tachograph app – technology commonly used by distribution companies in the European Union to track the location of their vehicles via GPS technology.
Initially, our client produced a video in English advertising the product, however, it needed to be adapted to five multilingual versions for global advertising. Our role was to provide video translator services for scripts, taglines, and other related texts while still maintaining the client’s high level of video quality and explanation of the product itself.
Multilingual Video Translation Services
The five languages requested for video translator services were Dutch, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Our first step was translating the video script from English into those five target languages. Upon completion of the translation, the scripts were sent back to the client to work with their designated voiceover teams.
While we were not involved in this step, we do regularly provide voice talent for multilingual video projects. When it comes to choosing voice talent for voiceovers, it’s extremely important to find native speakers to record the audio, to ensure full comprehension by the target audience.
While the voiceovers were being completed, we translated additional text appearing on the video, including taglines and street names from maps incorporated in the media. Each video translator was responsible for ensuring that their version was localized to the particular target audience for whom they were translating.
Taglines were culturally adapted for each specific country, and translators were asked to identify typical street names to include on the map of each version of the video that were equivalent to the English names (e.g. while Main Street is commonly used in English scripts due to how common the street name is, other countries have their own commonly used street names).
Once completed, translated and adapted videos were combined with their corresponding audio. We successfully completed the translation and localization of both the video and script for all five languages on time and within budget.
