Vietnamese Translation for the Association of Public Health Laboratories
September 2017, Boston MA – Language Connections, a translation and interpreting services agency based in Boston, has experience in providing language services across many different industries. Recently, we worked with the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) and the Eagleson Institute to provide Vietnamese document translation services for a presentation on bio-safety for native Vietnamese speakers.
Who Are the APHL and the Eagleson Institute?
The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is a U.S. organization representing laboratories that protect public health and safety. APHL serves as a liaison between laboratories and federal and international agencies, to ensure that their laboratories have current and consistent scientific information in order to be prepared for outbreaks and other public health emergencies.
The Eagleson Institute is a non-profit organization that works to promote safety within the life sciences through various training initiatives and seminars. They work with the APHL to provide training seminars and educational courses focused on bio-safety.
Vietnamese Document Translation Services
For this project, we were asked to provided English to Vietnamese document translation for materials that would be used during a presentation on safety procedures. The presentation was one component of a ten-day conference for the Association of Public Health Laboratories given by the Eagleson Institute.
The materials translated were composed of a presentation regarding bio-safety, cabinet certification for maintenance and repair for laboratories located in Vietnam. They included everything from SOPs on the proper procedure for decontamination, to the trouble shooting, testing and repair of safety hoods.
Due to the technicality of the language, and the safety implications for which the presentation was being given, the documents required high quality translation that would be easy to understand by those attending the conference.
To ensure this, we contracted the help of one of our Vietnamese translators who also has experience providing services specifically for the life sciences sector, and subjected the documents to multiple rounds of proofreading and review before sending them to the client.
The presentation was a success, and we look forward to helping both the APHL and the Eagleson Institute with bio-safety initiatives in the future.
