The university’s main areas of focus include business and hospitality and the culinary arts. Its successful program offerings are attractive to many international students, and as such the university decided to adapt their online collateral to better suit their needs.
We were introduced to the university’s website translation needs via a web developer working for their team.
Website Translations In Four Languages
In order to better inform students and their families about the university, the college wanted to provide relevant website pages in the native languages of some of their largest international student groups.
Our teams translated several pages of the university’s website, detailing facts about their campuses as well as student testimonials, from English into Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Spanish.
Following translation into each of the four languages, our translators edited, proofread, and formatted each language version so that the overall design was in line with that of the English pages.
Ensuring a cohesive design is always more challenging when converting from Latin scripts to logographic ones such as Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese.
Extra time must be dedicated to ensuring that online pages are responsive and the design is adaptable, as the text itself physically expands due to the different writing system. Our translators and project managers were able to apply their experience utilizing tools such as Adobe Illustrator to format the translated web pages accordingly, and complete the project to the clients satisfaction – on time, and within budget.
