Language Connections, a language services company with nearly three decades of experience as a global translator, recently provided translation services for an equipment manufacturing company.  We translated their technical manual from English to German. Throughout this project, Language Connections supported our client by helping them observe machinery safety operating mandates, adapting the manual for their product for export into European markets, and deftly handling attention German-English linguistic differences.

For this project, Language Connections provided translation for a client who was ready to introduce their product to German-speaking countries. As they prepared to move into new markets, the client reached out to us to help them tackle translating the complex language of a technical manual. Because explaining how to operate heavy machinery can be complicated, it is important for companies to translate documents into the native language of their employees for full comprehension.

Additionally, because the client wanted to export the product into Germany and other German-speaking countries, European safety regulations needed to be followed. European regulations mandate that instructions for operating machinery must be available in the country’s native language to ensure employee safety. To meet these regulations, Language Connections hired a certified, professional translator experienced with manufacturing and European compliance standards.

After we found the perfect translator for the job, our team made sure the translator was prepared to use the specialized language required by a technical manual. A complicating factor in this project was the fact that German and English share certain words with each other. Sometimes, linguistic similarities and shared words can lead to questions of translation on the client or translator’s side. To add another layer of quality and accuracy, we hired a translator who had a technical background, as well as native speaking abilities in German and English.
