French Translation for Social Justice Education

This well-regarded organization recently contacted Language Connections to provide academic translation services for a Hebrew and a French translation of a large volume of educational materials.

 

Hebrew and French Translation Services for Visitors from Around the World

The educational non-profit requested that Language Connections translate educational materials into French and Hebrew for seminars to be held in Western Europe and the Middle East. Though the seminars covered the same topic and were run by the same non-profit, their separate teams in each country approached the project with different needs. For both the Hebrew and French translation, the project required more tasks beyond translating the materials directly from one language to another. To maximize the educational efficiency of the seminars, the non-profit requested that the materials were adapted for better accessibility of the materials to local students. In particular, this meant ensuring that the language was more colloquial.  A translation done in highly formal, academic language would have only alienated the (relatively young) students. To achieve these goals, teachers in each country had to participate in the translation process.

 

The Result
