Professional Interpreting Services for International Cruise Voyages
Language Connections was selected to support Destinations North America and a luxury cruise operator Ponant with professional interpreting services for two consecutive voyages. The project required seamless coordination across U.S. and Canadian ports, strict documentation and rapid decision making to keep both voyages on track. Despite the complexity, our team delivered exceptional service, demonstrating why our clients rely on us when precision and flexibility are essential.
A highly unusual setting with constantly shifting requirements
Unlike standard on-site interpreting assignments, this project required interpreters to work onboard cruise ships, joining and disembarking in different ports across two countries. Throughout the planning phase, our project manager maintained continual communication with Destinations North America, providing linguistic support, recalculating estimates, negotiating with interpreters, collecting sensitive documents and advising the client on realistic logistical scenarios.
With interpreters’ availability dependent on guarantees and contracts, our team worked swiftly to secure commitments while the client finalized approvals. Despite the challenges our team ensured every professional interpreter was cleared, briefed, scheduled and ready for departure.
Because these voyages often involve international delegations, our expertise in conference interpreting, specifically providing simultaneous interpreting services for live events, proved invaluable. For more personal interactions, such as port-side tours or staff briefings, we also provided expert consecutive interpreting services to ensure every detail was understood.
Providing Reliable Professional Interpreting Services
In the end, both voyages proceeded successfully because of proactive communication, meticulous planning and our team’s ability to adapt to shifting conditions without compromising service quality. Language Connections proved, once again, that even in atypical, high pressure and fluid settings, we remain a dependable language service provider capable of delivering high quality interpreting services wherever you need it.
