Online English Classes for a Cancer Research Organization
Language Connections has been providing remote English classes to some of our clients during the COVID-19 epidemic. One of our clients is a cancer research organization. While we originally worked with them for an in-person class, we are now using creative technical solutions to implement a seamless shift to online English classes.
Language Lessons Where You Need Them
This particular client asked us to teach employees who speak a relatively high level of English (though it is not their second language). The participants in the classes we run for them have worked hard to develop and perfect their language skills through in-person classes for over 6 months. These advanced classes have focused on accent modification and advanced English grammar to truly perfect their language skills. During that time, the students and instructor benefitted from an ongoing relationship. This understanding of how best to teach to students takes time to establish. When COVID-19 hit and the stay at home orders were put in place, the class was no longer able to meet in person.
A break in practicing their language skills would have set the students back a considerable amount. For that reason, we took their ESL classes online. Not only did they want to continue to develop their language skills, but they wanted their online English classes to be together as a cohesive unit. Despite not being able to continue lessons in person, our instructors have found ways to keep the important components of language learning in place. These online English classes have been held through Zoom video conferencing, ensuring the necessary parts of the language learning process were not interrupted. To great success over the last month and a half, this version of the class replicated the classroom environment with their English course online.
