French Academic Translation & Interpreting
Boston, MA – Language Connections, a Boston interpretation and translation services company, has years of experience working in both academia and the international development sector. Often times projects in both of these industries are for training or educational programs for international attendees. This includes projects in a range of languages as well as linguistic needs in the form of both translation and interpreting. Recently we were asked to provide French academic translation and interpreting services during a one-week executive education program sponsored by a large charitable foundation.
What Are The Foundation’s Goals?
A private foundation focused on developing effective programs in early childhood development, the organization also provides financial support and expertise to partners in government, civil society and business to help test as well as measure effective services for families with young children. Working closely with one of the ivy league universities in Boston, they have developed a specialized executive education program aimed at instructing professionals internationally on how to best scale early childhood initiatives. This program was specially developed to help a diverse group of experts and leaders, including government officials, NGOs, business leaders, and researchers to identify and scale real-world initiatives for early childhood development.
French Academic Translation & Interpreting
We were asked to provide French interpreting services during the week-long executive education program for participants attending from French-speaking African countries. Additionally, we provided French translation services for coursework materials used during the program, such as study questions and exercises for attendees.
We selected a team of expert simultaneous interpreters with a strong background in the subject matter. The client also requested that we supply interpreting equipment and technical support. We supplied a soundproof booth as well as wireless headsets and receivers so participants could follow lectures in real-time.
The nature of the lectures revolved around teaching leaders how to scale programs focused on delivering services to children and families. This included discussions on gaining and negotiating funding, obtaining political and popular support, coexisting with other initiatives and so on.
Both our translators and our interpreters needed to be familiar with topics relating to early childhood development, leadership, and management in relation to NGOs and similar organizations in order to provide successful communication.
Overall the event was a success, and we look forward to helping similar initiatives provide necessary education to international students in the future!
