Local Ivy League University Hosts Hainan Airlines Executives
Boston, MA February 23, 2016 – Language Connections, a Boston-based interpretation and translation services company, regularly provides conference interpreting services for Higher Education institutions. We recently provided Chinese interpreting services for events that took place at a local ivy league university during a visit from Hainan Airlines executives. Hainan Airlines is the largest privately owned air transportation company and the fourth largest airline in the People’s Republic of China. The univeristy invited the airline executives as guest lecturers at the business school.
English to Chinese Interpreting
Our client requested both Chinese consecutive and simultaneous interpreting over the course of events. This required our interpreter to switch instantaneously from one type of interpreting to the other depending on the situation: simultaneous interpreting from English into Chinese for Hainan
executives during an undergraduate class where discussions were held in English, and consecutive interpreting from Chinese into English for students during a talk given by Hainan Airlines CEO in Chinese. Anl MBA course was also conducted in the same manner later that day. Lastly, our interpreter accompanied the visiting executives during meetings with staff from the university’s Executive Education program.
Mr. Chen Feng, Hainan Airlines Chairman and CEO, spoke at an event later that evening for which Language Connections provided simultaneous interpreting and a soundproof booth. We also supplied portable interpreting equipment throughout the course of lectures and events.
