eLearning Translation Services and Animal Education

 

For this project, Language Connections translated educational materials from the client’s website into several different languages. These materials were educational toolkits for children about different animal species. The toolkits were built to be both visually appealing and easy for a child to read. Because of these qualities, Language Connections needed to follow certain processes. Firstly, we ensured that our translated versions of the material retained the same formatting and graphics.  Secondly, we needed to make sure we used appropriate language for children, as the eLearning content developer intended.  The text had to be at a reading level that was accessible even to young children.  This meant our translations all needed to be done with the same reading level in mind.

In addition to translation services, Language Connections also provided eLearning localization as part of the project. When working on an eLearning content creation project, eLearning translation isn’t enough. For members of language groups to understand a given document or webpage, eLearning localization must be used in order to adapt content to the cultural context of a language. Therefore, Language Connections carefully reviewed the translated text of each toolkit and ensured that the content could be understood regardless of cultural differences.
