For this project, Language Connections provided elearning translation from English into Chinese for a webinar. As is the case for most academic translation projects, L.C. only hired certified interpreters with a background in the content presented in the webinar to ensure video translation accuracy. The fact that the project involved highly technical videos heavy on complex terminology and concepts further accentuated the need to hire industry experts. By doing so, Language Connections was able to provide exemplary university translation services and satisfied the needs of the client.

The project can be best split up into two phases. The first phase involved translating the English transcript of each webinar video into Chinese and including the translated text underneath the video on the university’s webpage, a relatively straight-forward process.

 

However, the second phase was more complicated. Originally, the webinar videos were supposed to be narrated in Chinese. Yet, given the budgetary constraints of the client, this method was not an option. Therefore, L.C. opted to provide a recording of simultaneous interpretation into Chinese alongside each webinar video, giving the client a cost-effective solution and demonstrating our willingness to adapt to the demands of our client.

 

Additionally, Language Connections made sure to create a seamless user experience for participants in the university’s webinar. For instance, after reviewing the webinar audio, L.C.’s translation team discovered that the speaker’s voice was too low to be heard. In order to ensure that the speaker could be heard, L.C. boosted the volume of the interpreter providing the recorded interpretation, a clear demonstration of our commitment to the project-specific needs of our client.
