Delivering Academic Translation Services

For A Time-Sensitive Application

Boston, MA: Language Connections recently supported a major US-based university with a large-scale academic translation services project related to the establishment of a new university branch in Athens. As part of the application process with the Greek Ministry of Education, the institution needed to submit extensive documentation describing the proposed campus, academic programs, institutional structure and examples of previously delivered courses. While the original materials were prepared in English, the application also required a full Greek version of the documentation as well as careful consideration of all regulatory requirements. This project demonstrates Language Connections’ significant expertise within the field of university translation services.

The Challenge of Providing Academic Translation Services

The challenge quickly became clear. A significant volume of materials had to be translated, formatted and prepared for submission within an extremely short timeframe. In total, the project involved approximately 250,000 words spread across hundreds of documents. This volume required careful handling of large scale document translation under significant time pressure. The materials included complex academic descriptions, institutional information and structured reports that needed to remain clear, accurate and professionally formatted for official review. Managing such a large volume of technical and structured content under a strict deadline presented a logistical challenge that required both speed and precision for exact document translation. 

Our Academic Translation Services 

Language Connections worked closely with the client to quickly assess the scope of the project and determine the most efficient way to proceed. Our team helped organize and prioritize the materials to ensure that the translation workflow remained focused and efficient. To meet the tight deadline, we implemented a translation services process that combined advanced machine translation with AI-powered quality assurance tools. 

Using a specialized machine translation stack optimized for European languages, we were able to generate accurate Greek translations efficiently. The translated content was then processed through AI-based quality assurance systems integrated directly into our CAT tool environment. These tools analyze the translation extremely carefully, evaluating whether meaning, terminology, tone and intent are preserved while also identifying potential issues such as mistranslations, inconsistent terminology, formatting errors or grammatical problems. Because the system understands context, it can detect nuanced issues that traditional rule-based QA systems may overlook. 

The Result 

By combining advanced technology with strong project coordination and a flexible workflow, Language Connections successfully translated and formatted the entire application package within just three business days. The client was able to submit their documentation on time, confident that the materials met the necessary standards.
