Community Interpreter Services For The 2026 FutureBOS Youth Jobs Fair

Language Connections is one of the City of Boston’s leading language service providers for translation and interpreting. At the city’s annual Civic Summit on August 1, 2026, we had the honor of providing multilingual conference interpreting services to help connect Boston’s diverse communities with change-making leaders and organizations while supporting event operations to ensure it ran smoothly.

Event context and language access requirements

Held at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, Civic Summit 2026 brought together more than 300 participants, including civic leaders, community organizations, and Boston residents, to celebrate America’s 250^th anniversary. Centered on the theme “We the People,” the event explored democracy, civic engagement, and belonging while creating opportunities for community members to engage with local government and one another.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was among the event’s featured speakers and was invited to speak in a panel discussion reflecting on Boston’s past and future in light of the 250^th celebration. In her speech, the mayor emphasized unity between neighbors and the larger community in order to bring change. With attendees representing a range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds, providing meaningful access to the event was essential in creating an inclusive civic experience, especially given the annual theme.

Boston Civic Summit 2026’s language needs

Boston is home to a highly diverse population, and many residents communicate in languages other than English. Language Connections worked closely with the City of Boston to identify the languages required for Civic Summit 2026 and coordinate professional consecutive and simultaneous interpreters for the event. Ahead of the event, our interpreters reviewed agendas, presentations, speaker notes, glossaries, and other reference materials to become familiar with the event’s terminology, subject matter, and context. Reviewing this material in advance allowed interpreters to anticipate specialized terminology and prepare appropriate language before the event, supporting more consistent and accurate communication during live sessions.

Beyond interpreter selection and preparation, Language Connections provided project coordination to integrate language services into the event’s broader operations. Our team managed scheduling and logistics so interpreters were in place and ready wherever attendees needed them, while coordinating with the City of Boston and event stakeholders throughout the assignment.
