Academic Brazilian Portuguese Interpreting

February 2017 – Boston, MA – Language Connections, an interpretation and translation services company based in Boston, partners frequently with many different universities in the Boston area to provide higher education translation and interpreting services. One of our recent projects for a program at one of Boston’s major academic centers for Latin American Studies, the Lemann Dialogue, required our expert Brazilian Portuguese interpreting services.

This event is an annual conference on Brazil collaboratively organized by four universities: Columbia, Harvard, Illinois, and Stanford, with endowments from the Lemann Foundation. The conference focuses on contemporary social, economic, and political challenges in Brazil. Speakers include faculty from the four collaborating institutions listed above,as well as scholars, policymakers, and other experts.

 

Brazilian Portuguese Interpreting Services

 

This year’s Lemann conference, “Beyond the Crisis”, featured panelists and faculty from the four institutions listed above, as well as Sergio Amaral (Ambassador of Brazil to the United States of America), several Brazilian deputies and mayors, policymakers, and other experts. Discussions were focused on Brazil’s challenges and solutions on a range of topics, including political reform, the economy, education, and public security.

Our role at the program was to provide Portuguese interpreting services for Brazilian participants from the Lemann Center for Entrepreneurship and Educational Innovation who attended the conference  We selected a team of simultaneous interpreters knowledgeable in the subject areas presented during the program and proficient in the terminology and subject matter in both languages, i.e. Brazilian Portuguese and English.
