Brazilian Portuguese Interpreter for Delegation to Bayer

Recently we provided Brazilian Portuguese interpreting services for a delegate of Brazilian congressmen visiting Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Bayer is a large, global company with a focus on several areas in the field of life sciences. They have major facilities all around the world, including in Cambridge, MA and São Paulo, Brazil.
Simultaneous and Whispered Interpreting Services
The Brazilian congressmen visited the Cambridge Bayer facility where presentations and discussions on various industry topics were held. This was followed by a walking tour of the on-site facility and further discussions at the Broad Institute.
We supplied a Brazilian Portuguese simultaneous interpreter and portable interpretation equipment (headsets and receivers) for the delegation’s visit. The discussions included technical terminology related to high-level scientific topics. This required industry specialization on the part of the Portuguese interpreter.
Our Brazilian Portuguese interpreter also needed to be experienced in various forms of simultaneous interpretation. Simultaneous interpreting is ideal for large, multi-lingual presentations, but it can be used during site visits. Usually during tours of facilities a variation of simultaneous interpreting, known as whispered interpreting, is used. To perform this type of interpretation, the professional interpreter usually stands next to the recipients. He or she then whispers the translated tour leader’s speech to them simultaneously.
