Full and Part Time Opportunities

Language Connections is looking for a creative, engaging, talented and experienced ESL instructor for our corporate group classes in Louisville, KY for part-time employment starting on October 1, 2017 for afternoon teaching assignments.

 

 

 

Main Responsibilities:
– Teach beginner ESL classes and monitor students’ progress.

– Submit regular progress reports

– Prepare classes and implement lesson plans

– Assign and correct homework and tests

– Assist in the process of curriculum review and development

 

Schedule:

Wednesday & Friday: 2 pm – 4 pm

Tuesday & Thursday: 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm

 

Location:

Louisville, KY

 

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree

– TEFL/TESOL Certificate

– Minimum one year of ESL teaching experience

– Strong communication and organizational abilities

– Detail oriented, creative, dynamic, patient and positive

– Fluent English speaker

– Experience living abroad and learning a second language is a plus

 

Compensation:
Commensurate with experience and credentials

project_managers at the tableOur six-month Translation and Interpreting Project Management Training Program is designed for linguistics and translation students who are interested in acquiring expertise in professional translation project management.

An intern at our company is given much more responsibility than at most other organizations. We value the input of every member of our team. If you are a self-motivated individual you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the day-to-day operations of our business. This is currently an unpaid position, but in the future it may lead to a full time situation for the right individual.


Qualifications:

• Students or graduates in linguistics, translation, or related studies

  • Some experience in the fields of translation, interpretation, or linguistics would be an asset
  • Candidates must have a detail-oriented personality and a strong sense of accountability
  • Academic or work experience in an international environment is advantageous
  • Proficiency with computers and the most common software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Acrobat
  • Superb written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of other languages is helpful, but not a requirement for this position
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal abilities
  • Superior organizational skills

Marketing interns gain knowledge and practical experience in managing blogs and website content as well as innovative marketing techniques utilizing social media tools such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, etc.  Training will be provided for using and coordinating various data bases.

Your day to day will involve taking calls from prospective applicants, corresponding with instructors & students regarding the course and exam schedule, processing payments, registrations & info requests, and much more.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support and information over the phone to students & applicants from an array of countries, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds with varying levels of English
  • Manage recruitment, logistics, space rental, schedule, payments, and student-teacher relationships for each 2-month class cycle
  • Co-lead orientation sessions and final oral & written exam sessions
  • Maintain and manage multiple spreadsheets in Excel, Google Drive, & WordPress
  • Create accounting reports for all class sessions in Excel
  • Pay: Negotiable

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred areas of study: Communications, Management, International Studies, Psychology – great for liberal arts grads
  • Verbal fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
  • Must have a fitting personality for customer service work: friendly, patient, helpful, conversational, eloquent, easy-going
  • Excellent phone manner & proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail is mandatory – the program manager will be responsible for sending out emails with pertinent information to students & instructors
  • Must possess a “take charge” attitude; able to take initiative and offer creative solutions to time sensitive issues
  • Must be comfortable with taking on new tasks and navigating vague & unfamiliar situations
