Experienced Translation Project Managers (Hiring Immediately)

The Role:

    As Translation Project Manager you will serve as the main contact person between the major clients (internal and external) and multilingual vendors. You are responsible for managing complex projects as well as specific production teams and details, including:
  • Clients,
  • External vendors,
  • (junior) Project Managers,
  • Communicating specific detailed instructions to foreign speaking vendors,
  • Managing workflows and processes,
    You are also accountable for the final quality assurance of translation, and real-time, accurate recording of financial information and activities.

Main activities may include:

  • Managing major client accounts, from initial planning, to estimating services, to delivering final files, to invoicing. When required, organizing production-related client meetings; coordinating process review on main accounts.
  • Assembling teams of freelance translators and editors for each project; Managing in-house resources and external vendors (efficiently and cost effectively). Select and assign translation teams, negotiate rates and deadlines, and coordinate production with all parties involved (translators, proofreaders, in-country client-reviewers, and Customer Service Reps).
  • Create and develop translations tools used for these accounts (Translation Memories, style guides, glossaries, account information, etc.), and develop efficient workflows for maximizing resources' usage.
  • Support other team-members in projects' preparation, translations, estimates, analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial information (project scope, revenue, cost, payment status, change of order, vendors' invoices, etc…).
  • Exercise sound judgment in keeping involved parties informed at all times. Mainly, maintain clients updated regarding potential difficulties and/or issues affecting cost and turn-around time.

Requirements:

  • BA and/or BS degree is expected; a degree in Translation and/or Interpretation or equivalent experience could be advantageous.
  • Superb written and spoken English; Fluency in other languages is a major advantage.
  • Proficiency with computers and most common software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, html, xml). Strong knowledge of desktop publishing software (QuarkXPress, Framemaker) would be advantageous.
  • At this time, we are especially interested in technically proficient professionals (with command of xml-based translations, localization suites, content management software, etc).
  • Expert in translation memory management, with experience including major tools (TRADOS, Catalyst, Multiterm IX, tag editor, etc…).
  • Proven multi-tasking skills -- Ability to prioritize while handling multiple projects simultaneously in an unstructured environment, while dealing with time sensitive materials and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate accurately detailed instructions to multilingual vendors.
  • A detail-oriented and service-oriented personality is mandatory, as well as a strong sense of accountability.
